Job Description :

We are looking for a hands-on, commercially minded Head of Product & Private Label who knows how to bring high-quality food products to life. This role sits at the heart of Greenspoon’s growth strategy - working across product, production, quality, and pricing to deliver products that are simple, delicious, traceable, and convenient.


What you will be doing

  • Lead the development and rollout of Greenspoon’s in-house & private label range across butchery, bakery, ready meals, deli, pantry, dairy and more
  • Own the full product lifecycle: from idea, recipe testing, to packaging, pricing and launch
  • Work hands-on in our kitchen or with partners to test and refine recipes, ensuring artisanal quality at scalable volumes
  • Manage outsourced production partners and freelancers, while building in-house capabilities
  • Build, train and support production teams to maintain consistent quality and compliance
  • Create and manage food specifications, costing sheets and standard operating procedures
  • Oversee food safety, shelf life testing, traceability, and regulatory compliance
  • Build strong relationships with manufacturers and suppliers who can scale with us
  • Track product performance including costs, margins, sales, and customer feedback - and improve where needed
  • Work closely with procurement, marketing, warehouse, and tech teams to make launches smooth and efficient


What we are looking for

  • Proven entrepreneurial track record (own store, shop, business, department etc.)
  • Hyper productive and creative in working under limited resources
  • Experience in food product development, private label, or food manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of categories such as butchery, bakery, prepared foods, or pantry
  • Hands-on experience with recipe development, food costing, and production scale-up
  • Experience working in a commercial kitchen with a passion for artisanal quality
  • Knowledge of sourcing, ingredient selection, and working with small producers
  • Solid understanding of food safety standards, HACCP, and regulatory compliance in Kenya (KEBS) is a plus
  • Able to work well with chefs, manufacturers, freelancers, and internal teams
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
  • A positive mindset and a strong drive to build something that matters
