Jomo Kenyatta University of
Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) is seeking a highly qualified and visionary
academic leader to serve as the Principal of its Karen Campus. The role demands
a dynamic and experienced individual with a proven record in academic
leadership, administration, research, and strategic development. The Principal
will serve as the Academic and Administrative Head of the Campus, ensuring
effective implementation of university policies and the promotion of academic
excellence and innovation.
Duties
and Responsibilities
Working under the general direction
of the Vice Chancellor, the successful applicant shall:
- Be the Academic and Administrative Head of the
University Campus
- Have overall responsibility of Direction, Organization,
Administration, and programmes of the Campus
- Co-ordinate, development and implementation of the
academic and administrative policies of the Campus
- Maintain efficiency and good order of the Campus and
ensure proper enforcement of the Statutes and Regulations
- Provide Innovative and Creative Leadership in the areas
of Planning and Development
Qualifications
and Experience
All applicants must:
- Possess an earned PhD and be a Professor / Associate
Professor
- Have at least ten (10) years’ experience in Senior
Academic, Research, or Management positions
- Have held senior administrative posts such as
Director/Dean of Faculty, School or Institute Campus in a recognized
University
- Have experience in networking, fundraising, and
resource mobilization
- Be registered with the relevant professional body in
one’s area of specialization
- Possess excellent Organizational, Interpersonal, and
Communication Skills
- Meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Kenya
Constitution, 2010
Additional Advantage:
Applicants who have held positions equivalent to the advertised position and
whose background is in the core programme areas of the Campus will have an
added advantage. Applicants are expected to be familiar with national,
regional, and global trends in higher education and demonstrate potential to
plan, develop and implement academic programmes, institutional linkages, and
managerial ability including strategic planning.
Appointment
Package
The successful candidate will be
entitled to the following package:
- Commencing Basic Salary: KShs. 380,410/= per month (within the salary scale of
KShs. 380,410/= to KShs. 507,010/=)
- House Allowance:
KShs. 75,871/= per month
- Leave Allowance:
In accordance with the University policy
- Medical Cover and Other Allowances: In accordance with the University policy
- Terms of Service:
Five (5) year contract, renewable once subject to satisfactory performance
and appraisal by the University Council
