Key Responsibilities
Credit Management
- Structure, sanction, monitor, and control credit applications to uphold credit quality standards.
- Provide credit advisory services on lending criteria, policy compliance, and process adherence.
- Implement and manage credit policies and ensure compliance with governance and portfolio controls.
- Maintain policy and data integrity within the credit function; ensure credit limits and mandates are not breached.
- Evaluate risk-reward dynamics, pricing structures, and provide recommendations accordingly.
Business Partnership
- Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Turnaround Times (TAT).
- Partner with business teams to coach and co-create tailored credit solutions for clients.
- Participate in initiatives to streamline credit origination, monitoring, and post-sanction processes.
- Support business teams through client visits and assist with credit-related issues.
Loan Management
- Manage a portfolio of high-risk or troubled loans, restructure facilities to improve performance.
- Secure and manage collateral; initiate legal actions when needed to recover bad debts.
- Ensure full compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal requirements.
- Generate loan performance and recovery reports for senior management.
Performance Monitoring
- Proactively monitor loan performance and recommend preventive strategies for NPLs.
- Oversee recovery strategies and auction processes as necessary.
- Collaborate with legal teams and external stakeholders for efficient recovery.
- Provide training and mentorship to recovery and credit staff.
- Present collection and risk reports to management and the Board Credit Committee.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master’s Degree (MBA) and professional certifications (CPA, CFA, Credit Risk Certification) preferred.
Experience
- At least 8 years’ experience in credit management, risk analysis, or collections within a Multilateral Development Bank or Financial Institution.
- Proven ability to manage large and complex loan portfolios and credit recovery operations.
- Fluency in both English and French is preferred and highly desirable.
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of end-to-end credit lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with lending policies, pricing structures, and risk-based strategies.
- Excellent commercial awareness and product knowledge relevant to credit and finance sectors.
