Job Description :

The Stores Clerk performs routine manual and clerical functions related to receiving, handling, storing, and dispatching stock in compliance with established stores policies and procedures. The role involves maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting internal departments with timely issuance of items, and ensuring proper documentation and approval of all transactions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, inspect, and record all incoming stock, ensuring accuracy and quality of delivered items.
  • Issue and distribute items (e.g., parts, tools, uniforms) based on approved Internal Requisitions.
  • Maintain orderly and safe storage of goods in designated areas, following best practices in stock arrangement.
  • Update stock cards and electronic inventory management systems to reflect real-time stock levels.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and assist in periodic inventory audits.
  • Prepare and submit stock movement reports, noting variances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with store management policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with procurement and finance teams to reconcile deliveries and stock records.
  • Monitor inventory to avoid overstocking or stock-outs and raise restocking requests in a timely manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of the stores area.
  • Perform any other store-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Higher National Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in storekeeping, inventory management, or logistics will be an added advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory management software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity and accountability.
